Skiing at its best

The new Flexenbahn cable car on the Arlberg

This really is the ultimate skiing experience: Thanks to the new Flexenbahn cable car that has been in operation since the winter season of 2016/17, the Arlberg has become Austria’s largest interconnected skiing region, with just over 300 kilometres of pistes and 85 state-of-the-art cable cars and lifts. Skiing at the Arlberg is a in a league of its own: Explore this unique resort right outside the front door of your holiday home in Oberlech. Fasten your skis and off you go!

We are going full-circle! The new Flexenbahn cable car on the Arlberg

The new Flexenbahn links the ski resorts of Lech-Zürs and St. Anton am Arlberg. High above the Flexenpass road, this state-of-the-art cable car covers a distance of almost 1.8 kilometres, with an altitude difference of a good 562 metres. Each of the 47 gondolas accommodates 10 passengers, which means an hourly capacity of up to 2,400 passengers with a journey time of just 6 minutes. The comfortable gondolas afford splendid panoramic views of the Klostertal and towards the Arlbergpass and St. Christoph, while you can start looking forward to your next downhill run!

Unlimited skiing around the Arlberg

In addition to the Flexenbahn, there is also the newly constructed Trittkopfbahn in Lech-Zürs, for an even greater choice of pistes at the Arlberg! Take the Trittkopfbahn I and then the Flexenbahn to continue directly towards St. Anton. If you prefer staying on the Lech side of the ski region, take the Trittkopfbahn II up to the new mountain station and enjoy the perfectly groomed downhill runs that start here. To complete the extension project, the Albonabahn II in Stuben was also refurbished. This means that the Arlberg now offers state-of-the-art infrastructure throughout! But the new Flexenbahn is more than just a highlight for our guests: It also takes pressure off the environment, as it has reduced bus travel through the Flexengalerie between Zürs and Stuben/Alpe Rauz by 120 buses a day.

The Flexenbahn is the logical continuation of the pioneering spirit that has been characteristic of the Arlberg for more than 100 years and has made the region an internationally renowned skiing destination. The new gondola cable car has effectively created a deluxe skiing paradise that has been Austria’s largest ski resort since the winter season of 2016/2017.
