Since winter 2016/17 ski enthusiasts visiting the Arlberg have a new reason to celebrate! Three years have passed since the completion of the Auenfeldjet cableway, which was followed by a new addition to the Ski Arlberg ski area: the Flexenbahn cableway has closed the gap between Lech-Zürs and St. Anton-St. Christoph-Stuben, has made the Arlberg the largest interconnected ski area in Austria. Guests can now access 305 km of ski runs in Ski Arlberg. Including the new Flexenbahn cableway, Ski Arlberg is serviced by 88 ski lifts and cable cars, which are interconnected and provide access to all the resorts of this vast ski area.
The new Flexenbahn cableway connects the ski resorts Lech-Zürs and St. Anton am Arlberg. The cableway runs high above Flexenpass road, covering a distance of almost 1.8 kilometres and an altitude difference of over 562 metres. The cableway consists of 47 cabins for 10 persons each. This means that, with a travel time of about 6 minutes, the cableway can transport up to 2,400 people per hour. Each of the comfortable cabins has large panorama panes, offering an unobstructed view into the Klostertal valley and towards the Arlberg pass/St. Christoph. Enjoy the breath-taking landscape before hitting the next ski run.
In addition to the Flexenbahn cableway, the Trittkopfbahn cableway has been built in Lech-Zürs. After taking the Trittkopfbahn I, you can either continue with the Flexenbahn directly to St. Anton or, if you want to stay on the Lech side of the ski area, you can take the Trittkopfbahn II to the new top station. In order to complete the circle, the Albonabahn II cableway has been built in Stuben. The new, modern Flexenbahn is not only a great asset for skiers, the environment also benefits from many advantages. When the new cableway opend, the number of daily bus trips between Zürs and Stuben/Alpe Rauz via the Flexengallery reduced by 120.
The Flexenbahn cableway marks the continuation of a skiing tradition that began over a century ago and made the region an internationally renowned ski destination. The new cableway transformed Ski Arlberg into a premium resort, which is Austria’s largest ski area since winter 2016/17.
